Russia criticized the increase in drug trafficking from Afghanistan

Over 1 million people worldwide have died in the last 10 years, having used heroin from Afghanistan, said the director of the Russian Federal Service for control of drug trade Viktor Ivanov said. Ivanov added that over 16 million people are affected in one way or another of Afghanistan's heroin - physically and morally. According to the Russian Federal Service for control of drug trade 30,000 Russians died in 2009 due to the use of Afghan heroin.

Russia ordered a regular increase in drug trafficking from Afghanistan - negative trend attributed to insufficient stringent measures taken by U. S. authorities in that country. Every year, Afghanistan produced 820 tons of heroin, and in warehouses in the country has accumulated 12,000 tons of opium. In Afghanistan each year to produce and sell drugs for $ 65 billion. In the so-called northern route annually sends drugs worth $ 17 billion, 35 percent of the heroin exported from Afghanistan joined Russia
