38 victims in the explosion of Sunni funeral ceremony in Pakistan
Topics, 27-07-2011At least 38 people were killed and over 100 injured in two bombings in the Pakistani city of Multan. Explosive devices were activated during the memorial service for Sunni leader Azim Tariq was killed in a suburb of Baghdad last year. Police said a car bomb exploded after the crowd, consisting mostly of members of banned Islamist group in Pakistan.
It is not clear who was behind the bombing, but the BBC said that most likely its authors are radical Shiites, who suffered much in recent clashes between two communities. It's not like religious terrorism, but we are still investigating, said deputy chief of police in Multan, Arshad Hamid. Recalled last week, a suicide terrorist blew himself up near a Shiite mosque in the crowded eastern city of Sialkot. Then 31 people were killed and 50 wounded.
